Vor dem Gesetz, Buchinstallation im Zwischenbau des Amtsgerichts in Sonthofen, 1997
Die Installation besteht aus zwölf Standvitrinen, die alle ein geschlossenes Buch enthalten. Jedes Buch trägt als Titel ein Zitat aus einem Rechtskommentar oder einer Urteilsbegründung. Die klare Form der Vitrinen verweist auf die Rationalität und Objektivität des Gerichtsortes. Die parataktische Komposition des Nebeneinander ist als Hinweis auf das Gleichheitsgebot vor dem Gesetz zu sehen.
Im Mittelpunkt der Arbeit steht die Problematik der Setzung und Kommentierung normativer Regeln, sowie die Fetischierung des Buches – hier des Rechtscodexes – im Sinne von: schon allein der Buchbesitz signalisiert Wissens-/Machtbesitz.

Before the Law, Bookinstallation in the Court House of the City of Sonthofen
The installation consists of twelve display cases, containing closed books. On each book-cover there is a quotation from a law case. The clear form of the display cases indicates the rationality and objectivity of the court. The paratactic composition side by side is a hint to the precept of equality in law.
The installation focuses on the problem of setting and commenting normative rules as well as on making the book into a fetish– here the „codex of law“- in the significance of: already the possessing of the book is a signal of possessing knowledge / power.
